Deep in colour, our Family Reserve Pinot Noir 2019 exudes rich flavours of black cherries and spices, a firm tannin structure and excellent complexity – a truly powerful wine.

In exceptional years we carefully select wines for our Family Reserve label. We feel they just have that extra dimension and totally deserve a black label. We hope you’ll enjoy.

5 Stars Michael Cooper, the New Zealand Wine Buyer's Guide

The bold 2019 vintage is a powerful, sturdy, highly concentrated red, with rich, very youthful plum and spice flavours, oak complexity, and a fairly firm finish.  A 'masculine' style of Pinot Noir, it will be long-lived; best drinking 2023+.

5 Stars Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews
Moderately full, deep purple with a ruby-red hue, lighter on edge. The nose is gently full, with alluring aromas of black cherries, cassis entwined with black earth, liquorice, herbs and black pepper.

Medium-full bodied, concentrated aromas of black cherries, cassis enriched by earth, thyme, and black pepper linger to a lengthy finish. The mouthfeel is dense, shows the concentrated fruit; savoury elements unfold. Integrated acidity freshens a silky yet firm, fine-grained structure.

This is an intense Pinot Noir with black fruit, lacy acidity and a firm, silky tannin structure.  Match with venison and lamb over the next 5-8 years.

Intense, ripe pinot noir with Black Doris plum, black cherry, liquorice, anise and a hint of wood-smoke supported by a perfect structure of ripe tannins. Delicious now but will cellar well.

I first tasted this wine several months ago not long after it was bottled and thought it was an exceptional wine at the time, with extra time in the bottle my opinion hasn't changed.

While Pinot Noir can be light and floral this example is a delicious, powerful wine with lots of character and intrigue. From the initial intense fruit to the layers of smoky oak and juicy acidity this is a determined wine, it has presence and character.
