The colour is a vivid dark pink, the nose intense with red currant and cranberry and the palate rich and long.  It's an assertive wine you'll fall in love with! But a word of warning: it's dangerously addictive!

It’s our Moutere clay soils, the dazzling Nelson sun and the finger prints of our team that make our wines unique. We hope you’ll enjoy!

Reviews

Made from 100% Pinot Noir (Abel Clone) this is another Blackenbrook wine where the purity of fruit shines, it also has a beautiful texture, a texture that is rich and rounded on the palate without being sweet.

The perfectly ripe fruit is balanced with juicy acidity and a touch of astringency in the long finish. For a dry wine this outstanding Rose is richly textured and a perfect food wine and is dangerously easy to drink.

Hues of pink and a super bright sheen lead to aromas of raspberry and sweet plum, cherry and pacific rose apple. Youthful, fresh, juicy and fruity on the palate with a playful acid line and a core of fruit flavours that mirror the nose. A mineral note along with the light floral tone add charm and a touch of complexity. Balanced and well made. Ready to enjoy from today and through 2022.

The back label suggests that this deep pink wine provides dangerously easy drinking and I have to agree.

All grapes in the wine were hand harvested and it was fermented to just off dry with 4.9 grams per litre of residual sugar, which adds a little lift of red berry flavour to the wine. It’s medium pink colour and oak aging for 9% of the wine also add body, which is a delicious touch to this rose. I love the colour and style. It certainly lives up to its back label.

Season Overview

What a blast! The past growing season was a pure delight, putting smiles on everyone’s face!

The vines loved the gentle spring rain and quickly produced a healthy, vibrantly green canopy. In December, our Nelson sun made for perfect flowering and good pollination.

Summer brought many weeks of blue skies, interspersed with brief rain falls, just enough to keep the soil moisture up and the vines thriving.

We couldn’t believe our luck when we saw this weather pattern continue right into harvest in mid-March! The fruit was in perfect condition with high sugar levels and tremendous flavour intensity, probably the best we’ve ever seen it!

As Covid-19 started to cast long shadows over the country, we managed to complete harvest 2020 just hours before the start of lockdown!
