The family home and the winery are also in the painting. In the background the Richmond Ranges and a deep blue sky with a long white cloud can be seen.

Nelson art to the world

Shangri-La stands for harmony, bright colours, vibrancy and incredibly intense flavours. We initiated the art series containing Sauvignon Blanc, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Noir to show-case these unique Nelson traits to the Japanese export market.

Contemporary Nelson landscape artist Michelle Bellamy created the paintings for the labels. Through precision brushwork and careful layering she captured the essence of the magnificent Nelson region.

Pungent and lively bouquet with powerful scents of meyer lemon and summer warmed green apple, a combination of fresh herbs and tropical fruits add concentration and drive. On the palate an equally intense wine with a core of fruit, salivating acid line and flavours that reflect the bouquet.

Delicious and fresh, a great summer wine for 2023 through 2025.

Certified vegan

To make this wine, we haven't used classic fining agents such as fish, milk, or egg extracts and only minimal additives.

This means our Sauvignon Blanc is very natural and vegan friendly. In fact, it is certified by the New Zealand Vegetarian Society.

The season

It started off like a dream: a warm spring, mild conditions for flowering and a strong fruit set, lots of blue skies and just enough rainfall to keep the vineyard happy and working at its best.

But 70mm of rain followed by two weeks of warm, humid weather in February had us worried about our crop. The weather recovered, but the grapes were now fragile and wouldn’t survive another big rain event.

And where would we find pickers? Covid 19 was raging and the borders closed. But the community support was absolutely amazing with lots of people offering their help. We ended up bringing in a beautiful harvest with the best picking team ever – such a relief!
