The fruit came in with exceptional flavours and intensity. During the entire wine-making process this wine stood out and we consequently decided to release it as our very first Reserve Pinot Gris.
It is a stylish, finely poised wine with fragrant rich aromas of stone fruit, pears and spice, an excellent mouthfeel and an oily, medium-dry finish.
It will benefit from bottle ageing and we recommend to enjoy it between now and 2012. Ideal serving temperature: 15°C
Focus on healthy soil and strong plants
Excellent spring weather resulted in almost perfect pollination. A warm summer brought along healthy canopy growth leading to the earliest harvest ever.

Bottled on 31 July 2008 under the revolutionary Diam Cork
The DIAM cork guarantees a 100% cork taint free closure of wine bottles. These corks also offer near perfect seals and no random cork oxidation or leaks. The cork is reduced to cork flour, before being washed with carbon dioxide removing TCA. Subsequently the flour is reconstituted and held together by the same polymer that contact lenses are made from.
Gold Medal and Trophy for Best Pinot Gris of the Show
Silver Medal
The nose is classically Pinot Gris and beautifully fragrant showing ripe peach, pear and a hint of honey characters.
The palate is rich and gorgeously textured with balanced acidity and a very long finish.
The wine has the Alsace-like rich texture and seamless mouthfeel with an expansive finish, and the high alcohol is certainly not obvious. Simply stunning.
At its best: now to 2012.
More fragrance, richness and viscosity than the estate model but harder to get after earning trophy at the NZ International Wine Show. Medium dry.Viva, New Zealand Herald
A gloriously intense and spicy pinot gris from this up-and-coming Nelson estate.
Creamy and mouthfilling with intense notes of quince and clove, the sweetness and richness of this wine is expertly balanced by its fresh lemony note.
