Our  Montepulciano 2008 is a scented wine with charming violet and dark berry flavours and a seductively smooth texture.

Originating from Central Italy, this grape variety is the perfect accompaniment to a wood-fired pizza or delicious New Zealand game.

The wine will benefit from bottle ageing and we recommend to enjoy it between now and 2010.

Soul mates from the kitchen:

Wood-fired pizza, papardelle pasta with hearty stew of wild pork or delicious New Zealand duck

What they say...

MIchael Cooper-4 stars MIchael Cooper - Buyer's Guide
Buyer's GuideThe 2008 vintage is very fresh, vibrant and fruity, tasting like a good Beaujolais.  Plummy and spicy, with a touch of oak-derived complexity, it is full-flavoured and well-rounded, offering good, early drinking.

Sue Courtney - Wine of the Week
Blackenbrook Montepulciano 2008 is vivid in colour and the viscous texture is layered with tannins. A floral wine with hints of violets, briar rose hips and an earthy brambly depth, it has  creamy oak with a savoury finish.

Neil Hodgson - The Nelson Mail
I have enjoyed each vintage of this wine that Ursula and Daniel have produced, but as the vines get a little older the texture of the wine gets richer.  This wine has opulent blackberry fruit aromas with similar flavours and a rich but silky texture in the mouth.  A little twist of mint spice in the finish keeps it fresh.
