Richly perfumed with rose-petal, Turkish Delight and spice flavours, this is a highly aromatic wine with a deliciously soft texture and a lingering off-dry finish.

It will benefit from bottle ageing and we recommend to enjoy it between now and 2010.

Michael Cooper-4.5 stars Michael Cooper - Buyer's Guide
Buyer's GuideA consistently delicious wine.   The estate-grown, exotically perfumed 2008 vintage is an Alsace style, hand-picked very ripe (over 24 brix), with substantial body (14.5 per cent alcohol) and a sliver of sweetness (8 grams/litre of residual sugar).  It has fresh pear and spice aromas, and the flavours show lovely delicacy, harmony and richness.

Sam Kim-4.5 stars [91/100] Sam Kim - Wine Orbit
A beautifully perfumed nose displaying mango, rose petal and subtle spice characters. The superbly weighted palate shows silky texture, rounded mouthfeel and gentle acidity. There's a touch of sweetness (8 g/l) which works brilliantly with the gentle acidity. A beautifully harmonised wine showing excellent varietal expression.

At its best: now to 2012.

Blackenbrook is a relatively new Nelson estate that has swiftly established itself as one of the most exciting producers of Aromatics in the region.

Sue Courtney - Wine of the Week
Blackenbrook Gewurztraminer 2008 is spicy and grapey - you can taste the flavours of the grapes while fermentation has enhanced the forward spiciness.

 Warren Barton - Southland Times
An aromatic wine that's good enough to dab behind the ears, but even better to consume. Spicy and seductively smooth. Off-dry.
