Blackenbrook Vineyard

When well-known wine writer Sue Courtney saw our Pinot Gris 2008 had 15% alcohol, she got quite worried and expected an unbalanced wine with a hot finish.

But after tasting it blind she was utterly impressed and even likened it to a Pinot Gris of the fabulous Domaine Zind-Humbrecht in Alsace – the exact winery where Daniel worked as a cellar-hand many years ago!   She published the following glowing review on her Web Site “Wine of the Week”:

In the mouth it simply seduces with its gorgeous seamless texture that flows across the tongue and coats the insides of the cheeks. It’s a full-bodied wine that seems rich and luscious with some spice and spritz but finishes dry with vanilla, macadamia and apricot the lasting memory….
I can’t believe how good this wine is even with 15% alcohol. It has lovely balance, flavour, mouthfeel and length.
